Pumpkin decorating fun for all

Get your pumpkin. Get some fun stuff to decorate it and come one, come all. Let's see what we can come up with. If you're all out of inspiration, we've got a cute design for you, using some fall leaves. This looks especially good on white pumpkins. If you go this way, we've got supplies for you. If you like the look of the other one, I got the stuff at Michaels. Go shopping. It should be fun to shop for Halloween goodies when it is 100 degrees outside, right? See ya soon!

September.......

Okay......I am planing the September meeting before school starts. This is what we are making.....FUN !!!!!



I have been pricing these badge holders. (they are 3" by 4" and can be used horizontally or vertically) The have 100 of them at Office Max for $75 or 50 of them for $42. So $4.20 a piece as opposed to $7.50 for the 10 of us. Kind of depends how many you want in your book. Staples, online, has 50 for $34 plus shipping. I also looked at Oriental Trading and then have 50 badges for $15. I read the reviews and several people raved about how great a deal they were and several people said they were good deal but were thin and tore easily. So that's where we are. Any thoughts ??

I can have fall paper here, or bring your own, which ever you all prefer. The cover of this one is done digitally. I think I may do mine on the computer ahead of time. The pages.....instead of leaving blank pages in mine for family to fill in on Thanksgiving for example, I am going to complete mine with what I am thankful for....probably with a picture on 1 side and a little journaling block on the other page.

Sept 13th will be here before we know it :)

August is Amazing!

Got your photos ready? Ready to chop chop chop? Let's get down to business then!

Tuesday, August 17 at 7 pm, at Carey's House (!) we will be making photo mosaic canvases. What's that, you say, you barely remember what that means from your cupcake-induced haze? Look below:

Just a sample of the fantastic things you can dream up and do with this project. How you do it is up to you.

You need to:

1. Decide on how big you want it to be, and purchase your own canvas. They are on sale this week at Joann's for 50% off, but can also be found at Michael's and Allard's. The size of your canvas will determine how many photo pieces you need. (a 5x5 canvas will need 25 photo pieces, etc).
2. Decide what color you want your canvas background to be (black, red, etc) and paint it accordingly BEFORE YOU GET TO GOOD THINGS.
3. Get your photos ready. We will have 1 inch punches available to use. It is important that you use photos that are printed at a store - photos you print on your own printer may not be waterproof and will smear when the modpodge is put on top. Suggestions for photos include ones that have a theme: Disneyland, fall, flowers, the beach, soccer, Boy Scouts, etc....you know what to do. Remember that one photo may yield more than one little piece. Full size photos cut into 1 inch pieces will be "parts" of photos, whereas if you use Costco's mosiac maker tool like Tracy and Nola do, you can shrink your photos and a 1 inch cut will be almost the full image - giving you a different look. The choice is yours obviously.
4. Get some adhesive to put your photos on the canvas. Monoadhesive or whatever you use for scrapping is fine.

We will provide the ModPodge or similar stuff to brush on top, and brushes to do that with.

So, to summarize, you bring painted canvas, photos, and adhesive, we'll chop, glue and seal that night. Got it? If not, call Cindy or Nola. If you have issues with any of the above, let us know. If you don't have time to get photos together and just want to make a pretty pumpkin canvas like the one above, Nola can make that happen if you give her a ring.

Fun and Fabulous Cupcakes!

Thanks everyone for a fun evening. I was amazed at the cupcakes. They were all really delicious, different and unique. It was fun to bring the party home with me. We will enjoy eating our cupcakes for awhile. This was certainly a fun idea. Thank you Carolyn and Lori for hosting and adding all your special touches.

The gift exchange was really fabulous. All the gifts were fun as well as all the stealing. I love my gift.

We really did what we do best--bake, shop, eat and laugh! Have a good Summer everyone. Love you all!

Cupcakes Anyone?

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to post something regarding the cupcake exchange so everyone can be thinking about their cupcake selection. We are having the next Good Things at Carolyn's house on Monday, June 14th at 7pm. It's a cupcake and gift exchange, so prepare your summer or 4th of July themed gift (20 dollar limit) so it can be swiped and don't forget to bring 15 homemade cupcakes ready to trade with your friends. Please remember to bring along a container to bring and take your cupcakes home in. If you'd like to share your receipe with everyone I'm sure we'd all love to have it.

15 cupcakes should give us enough to send one home with everyone (possibly Virginia, if she'll be joining us) and then we'll be able to cup some up for bites to share while we're there. Hope everyone can come... because if you don't... you'll miss out on a really GOOD THING!

I had a great time last night. Thanks for the fun craft Carey. And thank you for the goodies Nola, Suzelle and Lori. Always a good thing when we get together.

By our next meeting we will have all kiddos out of school with one high school graduate among our children and one college graduate in our ranks. And a new or almost new homeowner and two members rumored to be another year older. I'd say God is good!

From what I understood for June, we are to bring one cupcake for each member (Cheri to check on Virginia) and bring a dozen to share. Gift limit is $20 and it does not need to be patriotic. Just let me know if that changes.

A grand ol flag!

Oh my goodness! Our craft for May's meeting is SO CUTE! What can I say? It has buttons on it. In my mind, that makes it fabulous!


Join us at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12 at Chrissy's house.


You will need to bring adhesive glue dots, called ZOTS, which can be found at Michaels or Joann's. I used the medium size. I will supply all the rest of the stuff and the supply fee is $5. If Anonymous is reading this, don't fret. I have a box for you and you can pay me for it. :-)


I'll give reimbursements to those of you who prepaid (and overpaid!) last month when we were intending to do a different craft. That one didn't exactly work out but no worries, because this project is BETTER!
